Took 2nd and 3rd in the money (band race) with sick birds. 350 miles, NW wind in my favor. Missed 1st place by 51 seconds See Results

Trained twice this week 45 miles. Birds did start feeling better on Tues.

Birds are recovering

I have 8 Band race birds left out of 20. Only 6 are healthy enough to race this weekend. One of those six is border line race ready.
I trained the 8 birds yesterday at 45 miles. They loft flew for an hour this morning but wanted to come in after 30 minutes.
I will get one more training toss this week and they will loft fly for 2 hours each day. My best chance for winning money this weekend is if I get a favorable wind.

Birds are not well

300 mile race today and it was a disaster. Sent 14 birds and only got 1 back. Got 0 birds back for the money. Results
Band race next week. Some banded birds have gone too far down hill to be able to fly 350 miles next week.

No race for me

It kills me to miss this week, especially when the wind was in my favor.
The birds are on antibiotics and only have 6 days to recover. Some are still vomitting and others are finished. 3 birds have gone lite. (lost weight).

Bad news but good

Birds are sick. Throwing up and diarrhea. Adeno virus, Young bird sickness. It started on Monday after the race with one bird. I removed him and treated him with anti biotics. Yesterday there are several more and this morning all out virus.
The birds will recover but I will miss the race this weekend. I will treat the whole team with Baytril (anti biotic) this won't treat the virus but will keep the birds from getting overtaken with e-coli or Salmonella.
The good news is it happened this week and not next week for the money race.

Victory

Finally my young birds produce. finished 1st 3rd 4th 8th 9th 11th 12th 13th 17th 24th and a total of 14 in the top 40. see Results I have to attribute their success to the wind. We have a strong NW wind and my loft is located East of everyone else. The birds are in super health and the wind brought them straight home.
I was out of town this week and the birds only flew around the loft.
